Environmental Responsibility

Here at The Consortium we are very keen to promote environmental awareness, conservation and sustainable business. We are continually working to make our own business activities less damaging to the environment by regularly monitoring, assessing and improving our working practices with the environment at the front of our minds. We are also keen to help our customers do the same by offering recycled and eco-friendly products and encouraging good working practices that conserve the earths’ limited resources and help minimise carbon emissions, among other things.

The Consortium visits eco-friendly schools

Eco Schools

The Consortium visited Holt VC Primary School and Somervale Secondary School, two eco-friendly schools that have been recognized for the efforts to be green. We've posted up some pictures and details on the visits here:

Full stories and pictures can be found in the Streams Magazine 'eco-edition', which you can download online.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility

We believe our business is truly different. The values we apply to the way we do things and the people we recruit mean that we can deliver on our ambitious corporate social responsibility agenda in genuinely practical ways. We are committed to improving quality of life by understanding the impact we make on society, both directly and indirectly, and seeking to manage that impact in a responsible manner.

Reducing delivery waste

Reducing delivery waste

In a further attempt to be more environmentally friendly, as well as offer improved delivery services to customers, The Consortium switched from a bespoke delivery fleet to a shared user network. This results in a reduction in the number of lorry journeys as vehicles can carry parcels from several different companies at once and on both outward and return journeys.

Environmental Management System ISO Standard

ISO 14001:2004. Certificate number: EMS 84896

We are happy to have been awarded ISO 14001:2004, Environmental Management System British Standard meaning we are certified as a business that takes into account the nature, scale and environmental impact of activities products and services.

Global Compact

Global Compact

In an address to The World Economic Forum on 31 January 1999, United Nation Secretary-General Kofi Annan challenged business leaders to join an international initiative – the Global Compact – that would bring companies together with UN agencies, labour and civil society to support nine (now ten) principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption.
